Robert A. Kol II
Audit Director/ CPA
Robert A. Kol II is a seasoned accounting and auditing professional with more than 20 years of experience serving public and private companies, regulatory organizations, and global accounting firms. As Director of Audit Quality at L J Soldinger & Associates, he leads the firm's quality control and remediation initiatives, oversees audit quality processes for complex engagements, and serves as a subject matter expert in revenue recognition, business combinations, and technical accounting matters.
Prior to joining the firm, Robert served as an Assistant Chief Auditor at the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), where he helped shape auditing standards and provided oversight designed to protect investors and strengthen confidence in the capital markets. He also held leadership positions within the national assurance practice of BDO USA, LLP and spent nearly a decade leading inspections of major public-company audits at the PCAOB. Earlier in his career, Robert was a Senior Manager with KPMG LLP, where he managed large SEC audit engagements and advised clients on complex accounting and reporting matters.
Robert is known for his deep technical expertise, practical approach to solving complex accounting issues, and commitment to advancing audit quality. His experience spans regulatory compliance, internal controls, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, audit methodology, business combinations, and financial reporting for public companies.
He holds an MBA with a concentration in Analytic Finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Calvin College. Robert is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Illinois and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
